Greatest Experience

My best friend Caiti had her baby on Thursday! The coolest thing was, was that she asked if I wanted to be there for the birth. I jumped at the chance! She went into the doctor's on Wednesday at noon. The baby's heart beat was low, they sent her to the hospital to be induced. By the time she got into her room and hooked up on IV, it was 1:30. I got to the hospital around 3pm. The waiting game began.

There was a big group of us that was going to be there for the birth. Five people were allowed in the room. Around 9pm, there wasn't much progress, so the doctor came in and broke her water. We were excited that things were going to happen now! After the water breakage, Caiti received her epideral. Caiti was tired by then, so tried to get some rest. We all walked the halls and drank coffee, trying to stay awake.

Caiti, Cam, and I playing RISK to pass the time.

Not being able to get much sleep, we all crowded back into the room trying to pass more time. The contractions were coming but not very close together.

3:30 rolled around, and the nurse came in to tell us to get ready. Caiti's contractions were real close together. She was going to start her pushing, and call the doctor when the baby's head got close. We all gathered on the couch, on the sidelines. Cam (the dad) sat beside Caiti. The nurse coached her on how to push, and it began! We all sat silently while not too much happened. Caiti was pushing for over an hour. Felt like minutes to me. Finally the nurse started putting scrubs on and warming up the baby bed. Within minutes she called the doctor. It was time!

The doctor came in and put on all his scrubs. The tables where wheeled in. After pushing for about twenty or thirty more mintues, baby Crue arrived! I saw the baby come half way out and the doctor helped pull the rest out. It was such an amazing experience. Tears were streaming down everyone's face.

Crue Diesel Kendrick. Born March 19 at 5:38am. 7lbs 7oz.

Right after Crue was born!

A few hours later, after Caiti was switched to a different room.
